This past Saturday I had one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I attended the King Center's Salute to Greatness Awards Dinner. This annual event honors the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his family. This year, in addition to the Observance of the 84th birthday celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and the 27th anniversary of the Martin Luther King Holiday, it was the 50th anniversary of Dr. King's historic "I Have a Dream" speech. I was so inspired and humbled to meet Dr. King's sister, Dr. Christine King Farris, and Dr. King's daughter, Dr. Bernice A. King.
One of the nights' honorees was Professor Muhammad Yunus. Professor Yunus is the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner and is known as the "Father of Microcredit" and "Banker to the Poor". He is one of seven people in the world to have won the Nobel Peace Prize, the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom and the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal. He is also the recipient of hundreds of national and international awards. Professor Yunus's vision is the total eradication of poverty from the world. As I talked with Professor Yunus, he told me that he loved what I was doing with my company by giving back to the community and those in need. I was truly humbled to meet him. Just being in the room with so many inspiring and world changing individuals made me feel ready to do more, work harder, to make a difference in the world.

I was also super excited to meet one of the Coretta Scott King Angel Award winners, Alec Loorz, Founder of Kids vs. Global Warming. The other Angel award winner was Jay E. Roberson Jr, city councilman Dist 7 for the "100 Days of Nonviolence" Birmingham Campaign.
What a night!
I would like to thank my wonderful friend and the Dinner's Co-Chair, Laura Turner Seydel ( Captain Planet Foundation) for always being AWESOME. :)
