I am Maya Shea Penn. I’m a 13 year old entrepreneur, philanthropist, designer, artist, animator (I make animated short films), illustrator, and writer. I am the CEO of Maya's Ideas, a company I started in 2008 when I was just 8 years old. I create handmade artisan crafted one-of-a-kind eco-friendly accessories and clothing. I also write a column called Ask The Expert as a contributing writer for Livethrive.org. I was honored as an entrepreneur at the 2012 SCLC Women's 33rd Annual Drum Major for Justice Awards in the Youth Category. I was honored along with actor and Humanitarian Sean Penn, Actor Samuel L. Jackson and his wife Latanya Richardson, CNN News Anchor Don Lemon,Rev. Al Sharpton, Justice Robert Benham and Pulitzer Prize winner Isabel Wilkerson. I was panelist/speaker at the economic empowerment summit at Agnes Scott College that was being presented by the National Center for Civil and Human Rights for teen age girls. Trunk Show!






I was honored to have a booth at The 2010 Fall Trunk Show hosted by: Dave Fm,and V-103 radio stations! I had a great time and I met a lot of nice people! And I saw Mara Davis again who owns one of my hats Checkered Cherry! We also met Elle Duncan from V-103 and she loved all of my designs and also bought my lace flower headband! here's some pictures of Elle wearing my headband,a picture of me and Mara Davis and Latoya Deckey wearing my Chocolate and Cheeta cuff bracelet she bought!

Maya's New York Adventure!


We recently went to New York! It was really exciting! We met some really nice people! Plus we went to The Museum of Modern Art and saw a famous painting by one of my favorite artists: Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh! I recognized it right away and wanted to take a picture next to it. My favorite quote is: "I dream what I paint and I paint what I dream".~Vincent Van Gogh.
